Training Opportunities for the Unemployed:
Department of Labor Grants at Rutgers OCPE

Arrow Are you looking for training that can help get you back to work, but you don't have the money for tuition?
Arrow Rutgers can help.

The Rutgers Office of Continuing Professional Education offers a variety of "hands-on" courses that teach real skills employers need—and it's quite possible you qualify for re-training funds provided by your local One Stop Career Center.

Please Note: Many of our training programs are approved for One-Stop funding by the NJ Department of Labor. However, final approval for training funds is determined by each county One-Stop Training Center. We cannot guarantee that your center will fund the training.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Visit our certificate page and find a program that interests you.

  2. Contact Us. If you meet the criteria to enroll, we’ll send you a "letter of acceptance" to the certificate program along with a course description.

  3. Click this link to locate your local One Stop Career Center.

  4. Visit the One Stop Center and ask a counselor about retraining funds. Give them a copy of our course description and our acceptance letter. Explain that you're interested in the certificate program as either a new career or a way to expand your employment opportunities.

  5. Tell your counselor that Rutgers will work with them throughout your approval process.

  6. Ask them to contact us with any questions.

All of the One Stop Centers have their own procedures for allocating retraining funds. If there's anything else you need to provide, we'll be happy to help.

If you're denied funding, you have the right to request an appeal. Persistence pays off.
