Food Handlers Workshop: Best Practices in Food Safety

In the U.S. alone, it is estimated that 76 million people are sickened every year by food, with 5,000 deaths and 350,000 hospitalizations. With more consumers than ever purchasing ready-made / take-out foods and eating out at restaurants, it is vital that your staff know and employ best practices for safe food handling.

After completing this training program, presented by Rutgers and the New Jersey Food Council and made possible by a grant from the NJ Department of Labor, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the need for learning and practicing food safety skills
  • Define important food safety terms
  • Understand the main causes for foodborne illnesses
