Environment & Public Health - Housing Options

EPH students traveling from outside the central New Jersey area who wish to secure housing for the duration of the program are welcome to do so. Please be aware that housing is not included in your tuition. It is the student's responsibility to secure housing if it is needed. Information about on-campus and off-campus housing options is listed below.

*******************************************************************

On-Campus Housing

If you would like to stay on campus during the 7-week classroom portion of EPH, you have the option of securing apartment-style dorm housing at Rutgers University. Please be aware that on-campus housing is not available during the 5-week internship portion of this course.

2018 On-Campus Housing Option: Easton Avenue Apartments (Please visit website for location, details, and amenities.)

2018 Cost: $1,484 per person during the 7-week course

Parking: Parking is typically not available on site at the dorms; however, space is available at other locations on campus. For example, students can park in the College Avenue Deck which is accessible on foot or via the "Summer 1" campus bus route (free).

Parking Permits:

  • Non-Rutgers students (including May 2018 Rutgers graduates): Parking permits will be provided by OCPE for the College Avenue Deck.
  • Matriculated Rutgers students: Weekly permits must be purchased on your own for the College Avenue Deck.

Don't Have a Car? Here's How You Can Get to the EPH Class:

There is no direct public transportation from any dorms to the EPH course location in the Holly House* on the Cook Campus. If you don’t own a vehicle, these are your options (which you are responsible for arranging):

  • Take a taxi, Uber or Lyft directly from your on-campus housing to the EPH course location (just over 3 miles)
  • Take the Rutgers “Summer 1” campus bus (free) to the Henderson bus stop on Cook Campus (near Sears). From there, take a taxi, Uber or Lyft to the EPH course location (approximately 1 mile)
  • Once the course begins, find a classmate with whom you can carpool!
  • Ride a bike to class. Take Nichol Ave to Lipman Dr to College Farm Rd all the way to Ryders Lane (instead of George St to Ryders Ln). While this route is a little longer (4 miles instead of 3.3), it is a much safer way to get across Route 1, a major highway. However, exercise extreme caution crossing Ryders Lane (a busy, 4-lane divided road) to get to the Rutgers Gardens, where the Holly House is located.

*Note: A few days of the EPH course are held in alternate locations. Please consult the EPH course schedule for details (will be provided to registrants in a welcome packet several weeks before the course begins).

For additional information about on-campus housing or to book your room, please contact eph@njaes.rutgers.edu.
