Train to Become a Medical Interpreter

The Office of Continuing Professional Education (OCPE) held a Medical Interpreter Symposium on November 15, 2013. This workshop introduced attendees to our Medical Interpreter instructor and the 40 hour Medical Interpreter course that we can offer through our Skills4Jersey Grant.

Course Description: The medical interpreter is a nationally recognized 40-hour course that prepares individuals to interpret successfully in healthcare. The comprehensive, interactive approach will give participants an overview of the profession, grounding in current national Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, interpreting skills and will include intensive practice in interpreting subject matter terminology, cultural mediation and other vital skills to the profession. The Medical Interpreter course will fulfill one of the pre-requisites for national certification.
