The COVID-19 outbreak has undoubtedly caused significant disruption to the food industry, but you can minimize the ongoing impact of the pandemic by planning, preparing, and collaborating to prevent the spread of illness in your restaurant or food facility.

In this one-hour online course, taught in Spanish, learn about the coronavirus and steps that food manufacturing, processing, packaging, distribution, and service employees can take to prevent its spread.

Rutgers University Food Safety Specialist Eva Rodriguez Szewczyk will discuss the latest statistics on how COVID is impacting the food industry. Because it is often misunderstood, she will describe the difference between employee and food safety. Most of the program will cover the precautions companies can take to protect their employees and customers.

Topics include:

  • Facemasks and face shields
  • Gloves and protocol for safely putting them on and taking them off
  • Shields between workstations
  • Handwashing
  • Signage
  • Social distancing
  • Temperature checks
  • Sanitation and disinfection

Everyone who works in the food industry can benefit from this program, including:

  • Restaurant Staff: Owners, managers, cooks, waitstaff, bartenders, cashiers
  • Small Food Businesses: Owners, managers, cooks, packagers, delivery people
  • Food Processing Facilities: Plant supervisors, R&D scientists, QA inspectors, lab technicians
