Description

NJ Project WET has received a grant to train 15 existing facilitators to conduct teacher workshops about the importance of Wetlands! Participants will receive:

• In depth training in the use of the WOW! Wonders of Wetlands materials, conducted by the book’s sponsor, Environmental Concern, Inc.
• Background information and training about The Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar, Iran, in 1971 and the two New Jersey sites designated “Wetlands of International Significance”.
• A tour of the Forsythe Refuge during the spring migration season.
• Background information and training on World Wetlands Day.
• Food and lodging plus mileage reimbursement.

What is expected of participants:
• During the workshop, develop tools and techniques which can be used throughout NJ to teach about wetlands, the significance of Ramsar sites and World Wetlands Day.
• Conduct at least one professional educators’ workshop during the coming year using WOW! Wonders of Wetlands and covering information about the Ramsar Convention and World Wetlands Day.
