This course is designed for ecologists, engineers, planners and landscape architects involved in the recovery of impacted river, lake, riparian, wetland and coastal environments.

Drawing heavily upon real-world examples of Restoration Ecology in practice, Princeton Hydro, LLC staff will focus on the multi-disciplined recovery of degraded, damaged, or impaired ecosystems.

Learner Objectives

Attendees will increase knowledge of the multi-disciplined recovery of degraded, damaged or impaired ecosystems, drawing upon real-world examples of Restoration Ecology in practice. They will exhibit understanding of Green Infrastructure Stormwater Techniques; elucidate FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System; explain processes for reconnecting streams to floodplains; and display an understanding of stream daylighting, wetland banking, as well as regulation and design of ecosystems.

Meet Your Instructional Team

PRINCETON HYDRO, LLC

Princeton Hydro was formed in 1998 with the specific mission of providing integrated ecological and engineering consulting services. Offering expertise in aquatic and terrestrial ecology, water resources engineering, and geotechnical investigations, their staff provides a full suite of environmental services.

Credits and Continuing Education Units

The May 18, 2018 offering of this course was approved for the following credits. We will reapply for similar credits the next time the course runs, but we cannot guarantee credit approval for future offerings.

In addition to 0.7 Rutgers CEUs, this environmental training course had been approved for the following credits:

Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES): 7.25 hours

NJ Landscape Architects/Land Surveyors: 8 hours

NY Landscape Architects: 10.5 hours CL; 10 hours EA

NJ Health Officers/Registered Environmental Health Specialists: Rutgers University, NJAES, Office of Continuing Professional Education has been approved by the New Jersey Department of Health as a provider of NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs). CEs for Restoration Ecology are still pending.

Certified Floodplain Managers: 7 CECs

NJ Licensed Water & Wastewater Operators: 7 TCHs (Approval #01-021602-30)

NJ Certified Public Works Managers: 5 Technical, 2 Government

NJ Licensed Professional Engineers: 6 Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) credits

NY Professional Engineers: 7 hours (NOTE: This class may not be used to fulfill the land surveyors continuing education requirement in NYS.)

NJ LSRP CEC's: 6.5 Technical
