Description |
In order to participate in the New Jersey Clean Communities’ 2018 statewide litter survey, coordinators must attend one of the regional “hands-on” training sessions. Three workshops are scheduled – one each in the northern, central and southern areas of the state – and will provide the detailed information that individual coordinators will need in order to conduct litter surveys for the program Specific topics will include:
- Organizing cleanups – getting the word out, registering groups, selecting “team captains” and outlining their duties
- Registering a clean-up event with the Clean Communities Council – the steps and information required
- Project documentation – waiver forms, attendance sheets, litter reporting (including on-line reporting) and related procedures
- Safety procedures/equipment – although equipment for the surveys, including trash and recycling bags, DOT approved safety vests, pick up sticks, grabbers, gloves and safety kits will be provided, specific processes will need to be followed to insure events get the equipment needed in a timely fashion
- A discussion of the final litter survey assignment showing how the data collected in the clean-ups will be used to reduce litter and expand/improve Clean Communities’ operations and programming.
Please note that outdoor field work will be included as a part of the agenda for each of the regional workshops, so appropriate footwear are outerwear should be worn by all planning to attend. |
