New Jersey Clean Communities is a grassroots, community driven, state-wide program that is focused on reducing litter for a greener Garden State.

Created by the passage of the Clean Communities Act in 1986, each year 80% of a fund of 18 million dollars is sent to local municipalities and an additional 10% is sent to counties for litter control and clean up programs. The NJ Clean Communities Council is the nonprofit organization designated by the Clean Communities Act to collect statistical reports at the close of each grant year. This workshop will present detailed information on the program including:

  • Clean Communities grants - the how’s and why’s
  • Developing an effective Clean Communities program - what you need to know
  • Online reporting
  • Best practices and how you can apply them
  • Adopt-a-Beach, Adopt-a-Highway and other programs


  • 6 Recertification credits (classroom) for NJ CRPs
  • CPWM credits - 3 Management, 3 Government
