The NJDHSS, Division of Local Public Health Practice and Regional Systems Development, is pleased to announce this training program, which is tailored to the needs of county, regional and municipal health departments in New Jersey. This course is a critical component of New Jersey's public health preparedness and response plan and the State's overall homeland security efforts. Since this program has been developed specifically to provide awareness level training for local health departments, the NJDHSS expects that all local health department professional staff will complete the 40-hour certificate program. All programs will be announced through LINCS e-mail and registration will be available on-line 24 hours a day through the NJ Learning Management Network:

The 40-hour certificate program was designed specifically to provide awareness level training to health officers and administrators, public health nurses, health educators, registered environmental health specialists, epidemiologists, and planners at municipal, county and regional health departments based upon needs assessments for those groups. Other BT professionals at LINCS agencies, including risk communicators and IT professionals, may supplement the core training with other courses outside the 40-hour Certificate Program. All training is free and all registration and attendance is tracked on-line. Within 2 weeks of completing a course, the attendance information will be updated on the website. Participants can then view and download an on-line transcript of the programs they have completed. The transcript can be used in lieu of certificates to satisfy Health Officer and Registered Environmental Health Specialist license renewal requirements (all of the programs in the 40-hour certificate series have been approved for HO and REHS continuing education credits and CHES Category I credits).
