In the news! Emerging contaminants are defined as materials (naturally occurring or man-made chemical, microbial or radiological substances) that are a perceived or real threat to human health, public safety or the environment AND that have no published health standards or guidelines associated with them. Hormones, steroids, plastics, pharmaceuticals, detergents, and fuel additives are just the start of a list that seems to grow every day.

This half-day program will introduce you to the topic, define the issues, and review steps that are being taken to limit the introduction of these substances into the environment. The speaker will also address what you, your workplace, your household, and your community can do to limit the introduction of these substances into drinking water and wastewater processes.
