Course Overview
The 2026 offering of the Safe Drinking Water Act Regulatory Update Training Course will consist of three sessions packed with information and guidance on hot topics within New Jersey’s drinking water community. Subject matter will range from the Water Quality Accountability Act, to electronic reporting and tools, to updates and future changes on the implementation of regulations, such as the Lead and Copper Rule, PFAS, Consumer Confidence Report requirements, and much more.
Register for all three sessions, a single session of interest, or any combination in between. Each session will offer 3.33 Training Contact Hours (TCHs) for New Jersey T, W, and VSWS water license holders. Credits are also available for New Jersey Professional Engineers, Health Officers/REHS, and Certified Public Works Managers.

Schedule and Topics
Training Session 1, April 8 – The State of Our Water
In the safe drinking world, there are always a revolving number of hot topics. Therefore, it is easy to lose sight of the big picture, the state of our water. This training session will provide an overview of new requirements in areas such as cybersecurity and emergency response, best practices for system management, and preparation for matters like Legionella.
Training Session 2, April 15 – The Data Mining of the Future
Five years ago, the COVID – 19 pandemic prompted a reliance on digital infrastructure and since then, there has been a magnitude of advancements. This past year, the Division has focused on the development of multiple IT projects to assist in data management, protection of public health, and communication with the drinking water community. Attend this training session to learn about some of the Division’s IT projects that have been deployed, as well as future IT initiatives.
Training Session 3, April 22 – Staying in Compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act
Get familiar with the upcoming changes and implementation of the Safe Drinking Water Act. During this training session, you will gain an understanding of changes to some existing regulations, get an update on future requirements, and obtain compliance guidance.

The most recent offering of Safe Drinking Water Act Regulatory Update was approved for the following credits from professional organizations. We will reapply for similar credits the next time the course runs, but we cannot guarantee credit approval for future offerings.
New Jersey
NJ Certified Public Works Managers (CPWM): 1 Information Technology, 5 Technical, and 5 Government Contact Hours (must attend all 3 sessions)
NJ Drinking Water Operators (T/W/VSWS ONLY!): 3.33 TCHs per session (total of 10 TCHs for attendance at all 3 sessions)
- One Day – Approval #01-042601-10 = 3.33 TCHs
- Two Days – Approval #01-042602-10 = 6.66 TCHs
- ALL Three Days – Approval #01-042603-10 = 10 TCHs
NJ Health Officers and Registered Environmental Health Specialists (HO/REHS): Rutgers University, NJAES, Office of Continuing Professional Education has been approved by the New Jersey Department of Health as a provider of NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs). Participants who complete this education program (must attend all three sessions) will be awarded 9.0 NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs) for attending all three sessions or 3.0 NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs) per session.
NJ Professional Engineers: 10 CPC credits (must attend all 3 sessions)
