Description

Water and wastewater operators often have tasks that deal with a lot of numbers and calculations, including the monitoring of complex water quality parameters, preparation of state forms, and analysis of financial information, to name just a few. This class will introduce you to Microsoft Excel and fundamental techniques that will help you obtain critical information from the data you have collected, as well as how to distill this information so that it may be provided to others.

Topics to be discussed:

  • Introduction to navigating in Microsoft Excel
  • Organizing your data into fields
  • Copying and pasting data
  • Creating worksheets within a workbook
  • Performing calculations and creating formulas (starting with basic and working up to some higher order calculations)
  • Cell and worksheet references
  • Conditional formatting
  • Graphing
  • Plus some other tips and tricks of the trade!

Requirements:

The class will include some exercises for the attendees to work on as a technique is explained. It is therefore essential that all attendees have Microsoft Excel installed on the computer that they are using during the class.
