Description

This hands-on course has been designed by the HACH Company as an introduction to the theory and analysis techniques for corrosion control parameters in potable (drinking) water systems.  Parameters covered in the course include pH, temperature, conductivity, hardness and alkalinity.  Instrument calibration, results verification and troubleshooting techniques will also be discussed and practiced as attendees prepare and analyze standard solutions in addition to potable water samples.  Specific topics will include:

  • Introduction to corrosion management
  • Preparation of pH Electrodes
  • Titration—the how and why
  • Conductivity and total dissolved solids (TDS) and
  • The Langelier Index.

This unique combination of lectures and hands-on exercises will ensure that all attendees gain a full understanding of the mechanisms (both physical and chemical) behind the problem of corrosion and how to accurately analyze for them.
