In this half-day program, instructors from NJDEP and industry experts will present the State's revised approach to Vapor Intrusion as outlined in the VIT Guidance document (January 2018) and will focus on the pertinent changes made to the August 2016 document, including the petroleum VI approach using vertical screening distance.

Faculty Coordinator:
Brian Blum, Langan Engineering

Mr. Blum has a Bachelor of Science in geology from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Master of Science in geology (with a focus on hydrogeology) from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is a New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) and Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) with over 32 years of experience in environmental contamination investigation and remediation mostly relating to groundwater impacts, water resource permitting and groundwater development for irrigation and water supply systems.

Mr. Blum was a participant of the NJDEP/Stakeholder Committee who developed the State’s Vapor Intrusion Technical Guidance document, and for the past five years has organized and participated as an instructor in vapor intrusion-related continued and professional education seminars.

The April 4, 2019 offering of this course was approved for the following credits. We will reapply for similar credits the next time the course runs, but we cannot guarantee credit approval for future offerings.

NJ Health Officers & Registered Environmental Health Specialists: Rutgers University, NJAES, Office of Continuing Professional Education has been approved by the New Jersey Department of Health as a provider of NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs). Participants who complete this education program will be awarded 3.5 NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs).

NJ Continuing Legal Education: 3.6 CLEs

NJ LSRP: 1.5 Regulatory, 2 Technical CECs

NJ Professional Engineers: 3.5 Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) credits
