In this new half-day program, instructors from NJDEP and industry will present the State's approach to vapor intrusion as outlined in the VIT Guidance document and will focus on the pertinent revisions incorporated into the August 2016 document, including the new petroleum VI approach using vertical screening distance.

Faculty Coordinator:
Brian Blum, Langan Engineering

Mr. Blum has a Bachelor of Science in geology from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Master of Science in geology (with a focus on hydrogeology) from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is a New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) and Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) with over 32 years of experience in environmental contamination investigation and remediation mostly relating to groundwater impacts, water resource permitting and groundwater development for irrigation and water supply systems.

Mr. Blum was a participant of the NJDEP/Stakeholder Committee who developed the State’s Vapor Intrusion Technical Guidance document, and for the past five years has organized and participated as an instructor in vapor intrusion-related continued and professional education seminars.

The April 6, 2017 offering of this course was approved for the following credits. We will reapply for similar credits the next time the course runs, but we cannot guarantee credit approval for future offerings.

In addition to 0.35 Rutgers CEUs, this environmental training course is approved for the following credits:

NJ Health Officers & Registered Environmental Health Specialists: Rutgers University, NJAES, Office of Continuing Professional Education has been approved by the New Jersey Department of Health as a provider of NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs). Participants who complete this education program will be awarded 3.5 NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs).
