SRRA establishes a program for the licensing of Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (“LSRPs”) who will have responsibility for oversight of environmental investigation and cleanup. While the law changes the process of how sites are remediated, it ensures that the same stringent standards required for cleanup remain intact. The NJDEP will retain significant authority over the remediation process and ensure that LSRPs comply with all applicable regulations, but the day-to-day management of site remediation will be overseen by qualified LSRPs.
This one-day program is designed to familiarize practitioners of and those associated with site remediation such as attorneys, property owners, developers, environmental advocates and government officials about the new way of doing remedial business in the Garden State. The newly adopted regulations will be discussed in depth by NJDEP officials who developed them. In addition, an end-of-the-day panel will be lead by the Licensed Site Remediation Professionals Association to guide practitioners and other attendees through their future roles under NJDEP’s Technical Regulations. This will include the impact of the implementing regulations on LSRPs, other stakeholders, and NJDEP.
