This one-day seminar will explain the coastal zone management regulations and the state laws affecting coastal zone management through a discussion of the jurisdiction of the following coastal laws:
• The Coastal Area Facility Review Act (CAFRA)
• The Wetland Act of 1970
• The Waterfront Development Act of 1914
• Coastal General Permits
Examples of applications for residential, commercial and marina development will be presented along with discussions of delineating areas of special concern. In addition, NJDEP instructors will address common problems and questions associated with permit review. Other topics include:
• The three coastal laws and their impact on the application process
• Policies and procedures on permit decision-making
• The interrelationships of various regulatory programs in the coastal zone

This program is recommended for professionals who prepare permit applications and it is expected that participants have some familiarity with the applications being discussed. Prospective audiences include:
