This half-day seminar will focus on the Treatment Works Approval (TWA) program, including the General Industrial TWA program and the program for expedited TWA processing. Personnel from the NJDEP Municipal Finance and Construction Element will discuss when a TWA is required for construction projects and the applicable criteria for such permits.

Also addressed will be technical design requirements, administrative requirements for a complete application, exemptions and more!

Who Should Attend
This program is recommended for professionals who prepare permit applications and assumes that participants have some familiarity with the applications being discussed. Prospective audiences include: municipal construction officials; attorneys; representatives of public utilities; health officers; real estate professionals; landscape architects; municipal and consulting engineers; planners and surveyors; environmental consultants; builders and contractors.

Representatives from the NJDEP will be available throughout the morning to answer related questions.


The March 26, 2014 offering of this course was approved for the following credits. We will reapply for similar credits the next time the course runs, but we cannot guarantee credit approval for future offerings.

In addition to Rutgers CEUs, credits have been submitted for the following:

NJ Health Officers & REHSs - Rutgers University, NJAES, Office of Continuing Professional Education has been approved by the New Jersey Department of Health as a provider of NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs). Participants who complete this education program will be awarded 3.5 NJ Public Health Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs).

NJ Certified Public Works Managers (CPWM) - 3.5 Government

NJ Licensed Wastewater Operators - 3 TCHs (Wastewater Only)

NJ Professional Engineers – 3 Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) Credits
