You attended our two-day lecture program for Endangered and Threatened Species. Now, join us for field study to gain practical, hands-on experience with experts!
Departing from Spruce Run Reservoir, in Hunterdon County, this one-day field course will guide you to various locations throughout northern New Jersey - where you will visit and identify suitable habitats of the featured species listed below. To assist you with future environmental assessments, there will also be discussion and a brief demonstration of E&T survey techniques.
This course is dependent upon nature and weather. We cannot guarantee availability of every species and will need to reschedule to a rain date if weather is inclement. Please dress accordingly.

Field instructor, MacKenzie Hall, is a biologist with the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey. She coordinates habitat restoration projects for grassland birds, bats, and other declining species on private lands in northern NJ.
Field instructor, Brian Zarate, is a wildlife biologist with the Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Endangered and Nongame Species Program. He specializes in the monitoring and conservation of New Jersey’s threatened amphibians and reptiles, particularly the bog turtle.

This course is presented in partnership with the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey, a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving and protecting New Jersey’s rare, threatened and endangered species through public education efforts, community outreach initiatives, wildlife research, and restoration and management projects.
