After you have mastered projections and theory in the fundamentals of GIS, you can test out your skills with GIS software. In our hands-on course, we will focus on the layout and core functionality including an overview of the ArcGIS components, basic display and map querying functions, metadata browsing and file management, basic analysis techniques, and map layout.
Cartography is the art or science of making maps. You would not declare yourself a scientist or an artist without proper training; why then assume that you naturally have the ability to perform cartography just because you can make maps? This hands-on course will start you with the basics of cartography and build on your experience with projections and scale to create accurate and purposeful maps.
