Offered Continuously as a Printed Book

Please note: You must have access to a PC to complete this course. There is a CD that comes with the class, and it WILL NOT work on a Mac.

Approved as an entry level course for radon measurement by the NRPP, NRSB and NJDEP, this home-study course presents the information you need to initially become a certified radon measurement service provider and it prepares you for the two major national certification exams (NEHA-NRPP and NRSB) as well as New Jersey’s exam for Radon Measurement Technicians. Or you can take this home study course to earn continuing education credits to maintain your certification without having to travel to a classroom.

You’ll learn about the physics of radiation and atomic decay as well as the health risks of radon. You will develop an understanding of how radon gas behaves and why it is found indoors; then you’ll review techniques to mitigate radon from existing structures. This course will explain how to properly deploy radon measurement devices on the market, and it will review safety strategies to protect you, your colleagues and your customers.

Because this is a home study program, you will be free to work on this course anytime and anywhere you choose, so you can keep your business schedule on track while still sharpening your skills and completing all CE requirements.

Exam Preparation
The certificate of completion you recieve after taking this home study course confirms that you have completed the proper study work required to sit for national (NRPP, NRSB) or state radon measurement certification programs. You will have to schedule to take any exams through the organization directly. Click here to learn more about the exam scheduling process.

If you plan to do radon work in New Jersey, you must take the New Jersey Radon Measurement Exam. Review these materials after compleing the radon measurement home study course to help improve your chances of passing the exam.

How Rutgers' Home Study Radon Courses Work

After you register for a home study radon course, what happens next?

1. We will physically mail a booklet of information to your home. Within this booklet, you will find the core course material, self assessment quizzes, academic integrity form and the final home study exam. The best way to complete our home study program is to work your way through the content of the booklet, taking the self assessments at the end of each unit.

2. When you are confident that you have absorbed the material contained in the booklet:

  • fill out the academic integrity form and
  • complete the final exam

3. Submit the completed exam and academic integrity form to the Rutgers ERRTC Home Study Program via mail, fax or email (see address below).

4. Upon receipt, the Rutgers ERRTC staff will review the exam and mail you a certificate of completion. This certificate confirms that you have completed the proper study work required to earn continuing education credits.

* Please note that our home study courses are not offered online. *
