Description

Boost Your Earning Potential By Expanding into the Field of Radon Mitigation!

Through hands-on instruction, you will learn radon mitigation theory and the latest techniques used to diagnose and correct radon problems. You will leave the class with the know-how to design and set up a working radon mitigation system. This course will also prepare you to sit for national (either NRPP or NRSB) or state radon mitigation certification exams.

Topics covered in the Radon Mitigation Proficiency Course include:

  • How air pressure affects ventilation
  • Radon fan sizes and the impact on both air flow and operating costs
  • How radon moves through water
  • The importance of safety precautions for radon mitigation work
  • Radon mitigation techniques for new construction

Benefits of Studying Radon Mitigation at our *NEW* Radon Training Slab
Our new and improved radon mitigation training slab is an incredible teaching tool for the students who attend this course! Students will have the opportunity to observe and participate in live demonstrations that will reinforce their understanding of the following important radon mitigation concepts:

  • How a radon mitigation system influences the pressure under the slab
  • How diagnostic sub-slab pressure field extension tests are performed
  • How different radon fan models perform in comparison to the diagnostic testing that was done
  • How much wattage each radon fan uses

In real time, radon mitigation students will have a chance to see how different radon fans perform and observe how closely the diagnostic testing was able to predict the final results!

Radon Mitigation Certification Exam Options

We administer both National Radon Mitigation Certification Exams as well as NJ State Mitigation Exams. If you are interested in taking an exam, you may do so at the conclusion of the course.

Please select your desired exam when you register. Registrants can only choose one exam. There is no possible way to take an NJ Exam AND a National Exam on the same night.

In some cases, as described below, completion of the Radon Measurement Proficiency Course or its equivalent is required for professionals who want to be certified for Radon Mitigation. We offer the radon measurement course over the two days immediately preceding this class, with the option to take a radon measurement exam on the evening of the second day.

Click on the headings below to read more about the radon mitigation exams offered by ERRTC.

National Radon Mitigation Exams (NRPP and NRSB)

To become nationally certified as a radon mitigation service provider, you must attend an entry level radon measurement course, an entry level radon mitigation course, and pass a radon mitigation certification exam.  It is strongly recommended (but not required) that you do so in this order. Then, you must submit an application through the national certification board of your choice.

ERRTC offers the following national radon mitigation certification exams:

  • National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) Mitigation Exam - Visit http://aarst-nrpp.com for more information.
  • National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) Mitigation Exam - Visit http://www.nrsb.org for more information.

New Jersey Radon Mitigation Exams

To become certified in New Jersey as a radon mitigation service provider, you must attend an entry level radon mitigation course, pass an NJ radon mitigation certification exam, and submit an application through the NJDEP. You are not required to take a radon measurement course; however, it is strongly recommended. For more information, visit http://www.njradon.org.

ERRTC offers the following New Jersey radon mitigation certification exams:

  • NJ Radon Mitigation Technician Exam
  • NJ Radon Mitigation Specialist Exam

Pennsylvania Radon Mitigation Exams

To become certified in Pennsylvania as a radon mitigation service provider, you must attend an entry radon mitigation level course, such as the one offered by ERRTC, pass either of the national radon mitigation certification exams (NRPP or NRSB), and submit an application through the PA-DEP. You are not required to take a radon measurement course; however, it is strongly recommended. For more information, visit the PA-DEP website.

ERRTC offers the following national radon mitigation certification exams:

  • National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) Mitigation Exam - Visit http://aarst-nrpp.com for more information.
  • National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) Mitigation Exam - Visit http://www.nrsb.org for more information.

New York Radon Mitigation Exams

There is no New York State Radon Mitigation Certification. However, to be listed on the NY state website as a recommended radon professional, you must be nationally certified by either NRPP or NRSB.

ERRTC offers the following national radon mitigation certification exams:

  • National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) Mitigation Exam - Visit http://aarst-nrpp.com for more information.
  • National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) Mitigation Exam - Visit http://www.nrsb.org for more information.

Other State Radon Mitigation Exams

To become certified as a radon mitigation service provider in another state, check the with your state radon office for local regulations. Many states (such as New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, etc.) accept national certification. Some states (such as California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Rhode Island, etc.) require state certification, but accept nationally certified courses and exams, including those offered by the ERRTC. Other states (such as Florida, Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio) have local radon programs that require radon mitigation service providers to pass separate state certification exams.

IMPORTANT - Check Your State's Local Regulations!

Some states accept national radon certification while other states require state certifications. Be sure to contact your state radon office for local certification requirements.
