Learn how to capture and report data in a professional manner using Microsoft Access! This workshop is designed for people looking to learn the fundamentals of creating, using, and manipulating a database.
Our expert instructors will teach you the basics of working in MS Access including how to use fields, queries, and tables; how to work with toolbars; and how to use and search the help function.
In this half day class, you will learn new skills and practice them with hands-on instructor-led exercises. Computers will be provided. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Create and build a new database
- Work with tables
- Set up fields for tables
- Change fields in already established tables
- Add additional tables to a database
- Print the contents of a table
- Join tables
- Save tables
- Create auto forms and auto reports
- Add, change, and delete data in a database
- Design, save, and print a database
- Calculate statistics
- Create validation rules
- Close a database
This course will also include a brief introduction to querying, which will include how to query a database (all fields), create a new query (select fields), use compound criteria in querying, sort data in a query, and save a query.
You will also learn time-saving tips and shortcuts to work more quickly and efficiently. Our expert instructor will set aside time to answer your specific questions.
Note: While Microsoft Office Access 2013 will be used for in-class demonstrations and hands-on practice, most of the skills taught in this class are also applicable to older versions of Access. Windows operating system is used for instruction in all Microsoft Office workshops.
Prerequisite: Students should be comfortable with working database software programs before taking this class.
