This au pair weekend course has been designed to provide attendees with useful, highly applicable information for working with children on nutrition, interpersonal skills and even fun! Topics will include:

  • Cooking with Children: Nutrition and Fun

  • Fitness for Children

  • Keeping the Peace: Tips, Tools and Techniques

RCE staff and their 4H counterparts are experts in good things for children – let them share that knowledge with you!

This program will give attendees three of the six educational credits required under the J-1 visa.

Note: Au pairs (commonly misspelled as au pere or au pear) are required to earn educational credits under the J-1 visa. Click here to learn more.

Registration Fee TBD Includes all course materials, tours, continental breakfast and lunch each day, access to Rutgers' wireless network, and certificates of completion and other J-1 required documentation.

Rutgers University Cook Campus, location for Weekend Au Pair College Courses

This au pair weekend courses will be held on Rutgers' scenic George H. Cook campus in New Brunswick, conveniently located off U.S. Route 1 just minutes from the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. Ample parking is located just steps from the Cook Student Center, where all programming and meals will be held. For those taking public transportation, a free shuttle between the campus and New Jersey Transit's New Brunswick train station will be available on Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon.

GPS systems may not recognize campus addresses. Even if they take you to the correct building, they will not take you to the assigned parking lot. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you use the directions we provide.

Au Pair Weekend Course Housing Accommodations

Housing is not included with Rutgers weekend courses for au pairs.

For those who can commute, onsite parking and a free shuttle from the NJ Transit New Brunswick train station is available.

For those traveling, there are many hotels located near Cook Campus. Visit www.cpe.rutgers.edu/main/hotels.html for a list of nearby housing options. Due to location, the following hotels may be the best choices for those who do not have vehicles.

  • Located on campus, walking distance to course location: Rutgers University Inn & Conference Center

  • Located in downtown New Brunswick, walking distance to Rutgers bus routes: Hyatt Regency & The Heldrich Hotel
