Description

Any successful organic turf management program must rely on sound, science-based turfgrass management principles and practices. This full-day program, led by Dr. James Murphy, Extension Specialist in Turf Management, and Bradley S. Park, Sports Turf Education and Research Coordinator, will introduce you to the science underlying a proper long-term organic turf program.

Topics include:

  • A Discussion on the Natural Turf and Landscape Management Certificate
  • Organic Management: Theory and History
  • Organic Turf Management versus IPM
  • Soil Health Management
  • Selecting Proper Plant Species
  • Use of Non-synthetic Fungicides for Disease Control
  • Cultural Management Techniques
  • Weed Control Strategies
  • Entomopathogenic Nematodes for Strategies
  • Organic Turf Care in Practice

This is a a required course for the Rutgers Natural Turf and Landscape Management Certificate program.
