Learn how to evaluate site conditions to make better plant selections and maintenance decisions. Also, learn how to read the landscape, use proper site analysis techniques, maximize water usage with proper grading techniques, solve drainage problems on-site, and understand when and how to use different tools and techniques to solve drainage problems.

Full Course Description
This one-day course has been redesigned to focus on the drainage problems and repairs of highest value to you, your customers, and their plants. Learn how to evaluate site conditions to make better plant selections and maintenance decisions. Also, learn how to read the landscape, use proper site analysis techniques, maximize water usage with proper grading techniques, solve drainage problems on-site, and understand when and how to use different tools and techniques to solve drainage problems. This course combines classroom discussions, handouts, a video presentation and outside field demonstrations to effectively convey the information.
Course Objectives
- To identify landscape features that are relevant to successful water management
- To understand how the planting process can make the site worse
- To identify soil characteristics that are critical to water management
- To understand how water moves through the soil
- To be able to list factors that hinder and help drainage
- To understand why some drains fail
- To evaluate the site to plan a drainage system
- To prevent common irrigation problems
