If you’re pest management plan still consists of spraying chemicals wherever, whenever, it’s time to take a more effective, economical and environmentally-sensitive approach. Integrated pest management, or IPM, involves a series of evaluations, decisions and controls based on the plant, the insect pest and the methods available for prevention and treatment. This 3-day course covers the latest IPM fundamentals, tools, techniques and strategies to improve your pest management skills while keeping your customers and the environment safe.
Day 1 is a core class in the Landscape Management Certificate Program
Note: You may take day 1 only for an overview of IPM or the full 3-day class for deeper understanding of IPM. Day 1 is a core class in the Landscape Management Certificate Program.

Full Course Description
Taught by a team of our most highly rated instructors, including Rich Buckley, Bruce Neary and Paula Shrewsbury, this class has been revised for 2008 to focus more directly on ornamental plant care. You may take Day 1 only to focus on the philosophy of IPM, fundamentals of monitoring and practical strategies for implementing IPM for a business, school or public space. Note: Day 1 is a core class in the Landscape Management Certificate Program.
You may choose to take the full 3-day class to develop a deeper understanding of IPM tools, techniques and skills, including: degree-day models; biorationale constrols; insect and disease identification; improving soil health; and building IPM into your personnel and organizational structure.

• To learn how to set-up and market IPM.
• To learn to use IPM in the field
• To learn to diagnose disease and insect problems in turf and ornamentals
• To understand biological control limits and applications
