Designing & Installing Segmented Retaining Walls

Date

March 4, 2009
9:00am-4:00pm

Course Overview

The best way to learn how to build a sound retaining wall is to actually handle blocks, and that is exactly what you will do in this hands-on, one-day class. Concrete block walls can be a high-value addition to your menu of landscape construction services. However, designing and building a sound retaining wall requires an understanding of the engineering forces behind the wall. Good wall builders need skills that are far afield from design and installation of plant materials. Installing a wall that slumps or falls because of failure to properly understand the forces at work can raise expensive liability and profitability problems. This class focuses specifically on those skills needed for success in this line of business.
