Gardens change constantly. Forsythia bushes bloom bright yellow early each Spring and turn green in the blink of an eye. Purple and white wisteria hang in beautiful bouquets and then disappear as fast as they blossomed. Thanks to digital photography, you can capture the splendor of your gardens’ most memorable moments. Whether you want to share your snapshots with friends and family on social media or frame a print as a piece of art in your home, take an hour to learn some rules of thumb that will drastically improve your portfolio.

Rutgers Home Gardeners School @Home Edition's one-hour Garden Photography course is a perfect way to grow your camera skills. Instructor Joel Heffner, a professional garden photographer, will teach you the basics of taking stunning pictures using your smartphone. He will cover various techniques for taking, improving, and saving your memories.

Topics include:

  • Composition
  • Scale
  • Backgrounds
  • Framing
  • Lighting
  • Editing
  • Apps for creative effects

You will leave with a Rutgers Digital Resource Packet including class notes and a list of Joel's favorite editing apps. This is a valuable collection that you'll be able to refer to throughout your gardening future.

This one-hour workshop is a great opportunity for anyone who wants today's photo-driven world to be filled with beautiful images of Mother Nature. Register Today!
