Greenhouse Crop Production Course for Farmers

Description

Managing a profitable greenhouse production system and its environment requires extensive knowledge and constant attention to detail. This two-day short course is designed to inform beginners and experienced growers about the latest technologies and practices for greenhouse crop production and to also see how other growers are doing it. The topics will include:

  • Production systems
  • Pest and disease management
  • Irrigation
  • Crop fertility
  • Economics and marketing
  • Specialty crops
  • Access to land and right to farm issues

This is a two-day course. The second day will take place at different local greenhouses, giving students the opportunity to view and compare different greenhouse operations and speak directly with the owners. Please note that students will drive themselves to the greenhouse locations.

Credits

The March 14-15, 2018 offering of this course was approved for the following credits. We will reapply for similar credits the next time the course runs, but we cannot guarantee credit approval for future offerings.

NOTE: Individuals who wish to receive pesticide recertification credits at any of our courses will need to know their applicator license number. Please bring your pesticide license with you to class.

Meals

Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided to you on Day 1 only. No meals are provided on Day 2.

DAY TWO:
Students will visit several local greenhouses. Students will drive themselves to these locations.

Note: Pre-registration is required. We're sorry, but we cannot guarantee a seat, materials or meals for walk-in registrants. Location is subject to change; registrants will be notified in the event of a change.
