*NEW* Flood Hazard Area Certificate Program
NOTE: A primary component of this series is the discussion of NJDEP's proposal to amend the Flood Hazard Area Control Act Rules. Recently, the NJ Legislature passed a resolution in opposition to NJDEP's proposal to amend these rules, thus we are temporarily postponing these classes until this issue has been resolved.

Flood Hazard Area Certificate Program Overview:
New Jersey's Flood Hazard Area Control Act Rules (N.J.A.C. 7:13), which were adopted in 2007 and amended in 2013 to incorporate new flood mapping and elevation standards after Superstorm Sandy, represent the most stringent statewide flood mitigation and stream corridor protection rules in the country.
This three-day interactive program is intended to cover all aspects of New Jersey's flood hazard area program, from basic concepts, such as what is a flood hazard area and riparian zone, to complex engineering and environmental issues.
Day 1 will provide an overview of the FHACA Rules, including basic permitting requirements and guidance on how to successfully obtain flood hazard area approvals. Day 2 will focus on engineering design standards, and Day 3 will focus on environmental issues. Various case studies will be discussed on Day 2 and 3.
It is strongly recommended (but not required) that you complete the full three-day program. Not only will you receive the certificate, but you will also gain a full and complete understanding of the amended rules. Furthermore, each course day is designed to build on the knowledge gained in previous class sessions, helping you maximize the opportunity to learn all aspects of these important, new standards.
Details of the 2015 proposal to amend the flood hazard area rules will also be discussed.
